1. How far are you from Stansted Airport?
   
We are about 8 to10 minutes drive from the Airport. Very conveniently situated for STANSTED AIRPORT Travel.
 
2. Is there any public transport to and from Stansted Airport?
     

To the Airport from Phoenix Lodge.

     by BUS
There is a bus service (Public Transport). Bus No. 308/309 stops right outside Phoenix Lodge around 6.30 a.m Monday to Friday. From 7.10am onwards MON to Sat (ten minutes past the hour) there is also bus number 7 that goes to Stansted Airport. The fare is approximately £1.80 per person. Both buses take about 15 to 20 minutes to the Airport. For more information you can can call 0870 608 2608 or visit the BAA.com Stansted Airport website.
by TRAIN
The train station is approximately 10 minutes walk from the Lodge. You could take the Stansted Express which comes from London Liverpool Street that goes to the Airport. By Taxi

 

 

 

By Bus

 We will organise the taxi for you when you have arrived here. The taxi service runs 24 hrs a day.The fare is £12.00 if you leave before 6.30 a.m & £9.00 if after that. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the Airport from Phoenix Lodge.  

You could also share the taxi with another room if they are going to the Airport around the same time.

 

From the Airport to Phoenix Lodge.

From the Arrival Lounge, go one level down to the Coach Station & look for bus No.7(there are two number 7 buses) that comes to Bishop's Stortfort or Dunmow road & tell the driver to drop you in front of the Nag's Head Pub or as close as possible to THRESHERS food & wine , we are No.91 Dunmow Road.

                                         OR

 You could also take Bus no. 308 / 309 which comes thru Stansted Road & tell the driver to drop you at Hockerill Church( before Hockeril traffick lights ), get down at the Church & walk towards the Cock Inn pub & turn left at the pub & that is Dunmow road and we are number 91. Its about 5 to 8 minutes walk.

                                            OR

Take the number 510 bus which goes to the station. Get down at the Station & get a taxi or give us a call & we will come & pick you up with prior arrangement.

No matter what method of transport you chose to take, just remember We do not check in any one after 11p.m the latest.

So, If you are arriving at the Airport anytime after 10 p.m, I suggest you just take the taxi & get here as quick as you can. 

By Taxi

Just go to the International arrival at the Airport & go to the taxi office called 24/7 CARS & just tell them that you want to get Phoenix Lodge in B.Stortford & they will bring you right here, it takes about 8 to 10 minutes to get here. The fare is £12.00 24 hrs a day.

By Train.

Go one level down to the Train Station & take the train that goes to LONDON LIVERPOOL St but take the one that says Via Bishop's Stortford. Get down at Bishop's Stortford & give us a call & we will come & pick you up. But you must call us from the Airport to say the expected time of arrival. We will not pick you up without any prior arrangement.

 

From Liverpool Street station to Phoenix Lodge.

Take the Stansted Express train that goes to Stansted Airport but take the one that says Via Bishop's Stortford & get down at  B.Stortford & give us a call. We will come & pick you up but you must call us from Liverpool Street & make prior arrangement, otherwise just get a taxi from the station & it would cost about £2.80.

You could also take the train that goes to Cambridge or Peterborough but get down at B.Stortford.

The free Train pick up service is from 10 a.m to 10 p.m only

 
 
   
3. Since Phoenix Lodge is very close to the airport will there be a lot of plane noise?
     
  No. We are are not under the flight path.
   
4. Do you offer long term parking? Can we leave our car whilst we are away?
     
  Yes we do. There is a small charge but that includes FREE TRANSFERS TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT. Car keys must be left with us whilst you are away. (NB. All parking charges have to be paid in advance)
   
5. Do you offer any FREE transfers?
     
  No. The room rate does not include any free transfers as our rooms are very competitively priced. (NB. The room rate includes VAT and a free complimentry breakfast)
   
6. What happens if my flight arrives late?
     
  We do not check in anyone after 11.00 pm. As you can appreciate that most of our guests leave from 04.30 am onwards and they do not like to be disturbed.
   
7. What is a non en-suite / en-suite room?
   
  The En-Suite means, the bathroom and the toilet are inside the room. The Non En-Suite means, the rooms have their own private hand wash basins, cold and hot water, however the bathroom and the toilet are just outside the room. We have two rooms which are non En-Suite and they are available at a cheaper rate. The shared bathroom and the toilet are for Guest use only.
 
8. How do I book a room?
   
 

If you go to our own website... www.phoenixlodge.co.uk, you will see under booking form/contact details a booking form. Please fill in the booking form and click SEND FORM BY EMAIL.

You will receive an automatic reply/acknowledgment message for your enquiry. If you do not receive this message we have not received your booking form. Please try sending the booking form again. Filling in a booking does not mean that the room is booked. Please wait for confirmation from us.

ALWAYS PUT YOUR CONTACT NUMBER ON THE BOOKING FORM. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN US YOUR CORRECT E-MAIL ADDRESS.

 
9. Do I have to pay a deposit?
   

No, but please provide valid credit card details which will be used to secure the booking.

However, upon arrival you will be required to pay by CASH, CHEQUE or CREDIT CARD.

If you pay by CREDIT CARD, you will be charged 2% credit card charge. The banks charge us 3%.

WE DO NOT RESERVE ANY ROOMS WITHOUT CREDIT CARD DETAILS.

   
10. Do you have room for 5 people?
Yes, however you must specify whether all adults or for family with children and the number of rooms required or shared.
   
   
11. We are leaving very early (about 04.30 am). Can we call a taxi at that time of morning?

We organise taxis for our Guests from 4.00 am onwards as soon as you arrive the night before.

Please go to our website under Where We Are and printout the map from there.
   
13. Can you provide a travel cot for small children?
Yes, we do provide travel cots.

Yes, we are a strictly NON SMOKING LODGE.
   
15. Do you have a room for 3 people?
Yes, please specify whether separate rooms are needed or all are willing to share one room.

17. What facilities are available in the rooms?
We serve Complimentory Breakfast. As most of our guests leave from 04.00 am onwards, we feel that everyone should have something to eat before they leave.

We have a fridge facility in each room.

In the fridge, there will be some fruit desserts, cartons or orange juice and a bottle of milk. Also provided are boxes of cereals, tea, coffee, hot chocolate facilities. Please help yourself. There are provided free. FREE MEANS FREE.

However, if you are leaving after 07.30 am, we also provide slices of hot toast, scrambled eggs ,Orange Juice, crossants, jam, butter, marmalade and fresh fruits. 
   
18. What is the latest time we can check in?
The latest time is 11.00 pm. We need the flight number and the arrival time at Stansted Airport for any flights arriving after 10.00 pm, so that we can wait up for you if the flights are delayed.
   
19. I am arriving from Heathrow/Gatwick/Luton. How do I get to Phoenix Lodge?
You could take the Coach from Heathrow/Gatwick/Luton straight to Stansted Airport and get a taxi from Stansted to the Lodge.
   
20. We are leaving very early. At about 05.00 am. Can we get our breakfast before we leave?
Yes. Please help yourself from the continental breakfast provided in your room.
   
21. How do I get from the Airport to Phoenix Lodge?

As you come out of the arrival lounge, you will see a taxi office called 24/7 Cars. Go to the desk and just tell them that you want to get to Phoenix Lodge in Bishops Stortford. They will bring you straight here. It is approximately 8 to 10 minutes drive from the Airport.

The fare is £12.00, 24 hours a day.

If you are going back to the Airport the next day after 06.30 am then the fare will be cheaper and we will book a local taxi.

   
22. Is my car insured by Phoenix Lodge insurance while left at your place?
No. Any cars & belongings left here are at owners risk. Phoenix Lodge or its proprietors are not liable for any theft / damage or loss of your car or any personal belongings howsoever caused.
   
23. Is your site a secured site to send card details?
No. However, if you are not comfortable sending the card details via the internet, then just printout the booking form & fax it to us. Or call us to give the card details over the phone. Remember, we do not reserve rooms without a valid credit card details.
